Prayer, Gratitude and Forgiveness: The Soul Pillar in Daily Life

Adapted from the Four Pillars framework in A Life Full of Light.

The Soul pillar is the spiritual dimension of the Four Pillars approach. In my own life and writing, this is rooted in prayer, faith in God, forgiveness, gratitude, hope, love and service.

Prayer

Prayer creates a deliberate pause from fear and noise. It is a way of turning attention toward God, meaning and trust.

Gratitude

The book repeatedly uses gratitude as a daily practice. A simple approach is to name three things you are genuinely grateful for at the end of each day.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness does not mean denying what happened or removing healthy boundaries. It can mean choosing not to let resentment dominate the rest of your life.

Hope and Service

Hope becomes stronger when it is connected to action. Helping another person, showing kindness or offering encouragement can turn inner intention into lived practice.

A Five-Minute Soul Practice

  1. One minute of silence.
  2. A short prayer.
  3. Name three things you are grateful for.
  4. Think of one burden you want to release.
  5. Choose one act of kindness for the day.

Important Note

Spiritual practices can support meaning and wellbeing, but they should not be used to replace medical or psychological care.
